Ever since it made the local news, I’ve followed the case of the mother of the transgender student-athlete at Monarch High in Coconut Creek.
Five people were investigated and only the mother, Jessica Norton, was seriously disciplined.
One school employee committed fraud and got a three-day suspension. Another got one day and one accused of indecent conduct got 10 days.
And this mom, who did nothing but protect her child, gets a 10-day suspension and is moved to a different job? What nonsense. But then, after all, we’re living in the age of Ron DeSantis.
I hope she sues.

An astute Pat Beall column
The Sun Sentinel, through its excellent reporters and its informative Opinion page, continues to educate its readers.
The only thing that disturbs me is that so many people still know little if anything about The Heritage Foundation’s opus Project 2025 — or even worse, they have been misinformed about it.
Sun Sentinel Columnist Pat Beall deserves kudos for her astute column and its educational content, clearly revealing just what Project 2025 espouses — right down to listing the page numbers.
Thank you!
It behooves all of us to know how our lives will be adversely affected if anyone with the moral turpitude of someone like Trump were to be elected with his eyes on a guide to achieve some very nefarious objectives.
A thriving American democracy requires informed citizens, and the more voters are aware of what’s going on, the better off all of us will be.

A delusional editorial
Delusional — that’s what the Sun Sentinel Editorial Board is.
Instead of zeroing in on the lousy economy, crime, inflation and millions of illegals invading our country, you devoted an entire editorial forecasting that Trump wants to be a dictator. Are you serious?
Trump had four years as president, and nothing close to your scenario happened the way you claimed he would act. You will have a tough time trying to polish over the extreme record of “Cackling Kamala.”
Harris has more baggage than Macy’s has luggage. You’re beating a dead horse.

Democracy in action?
The decision to replace President Joe Biden with Vice President Kamala Harris as the Democratic nominee shows a major flaw in our election process.
What’s the purpose of holding a primary election if the candidate suddenly becomes unable to continue? This also could have applied to Donald Trump, who, by a fraction of an inch, wouldn’t be the Republican nominee.
It calls into question the power of our votes if in the end it all goes to the electors. Harris might be the first presidential candidate who did not win the vote of the people to earn the privilege of running for president before actually winning. How is this democracy?
This argument will continue as the election nears, especially as it erases Trump’s advantage. There needs to be a system whereby if the primary candidate does not make it to the general election, the second- or third-place person, by votes cast during the primaries, falls in line.
