T.O.’s First Words: Why Buffalo Should Be Afraid

Author
UPDATED:

The Terrell Owens move can go either way in Buffalo. I saluted it as a bold move by a vanilla team. He adds excitement, talent and if his first years with teams holds true will be worth the gamble. Or he can be a one-man wrecking crew again.

His first interview leaned toward the latter.

If that 18 1/2 minute gap on the Watergate tape remains a mystery, the seven-second delay after Owens was asked what he first thought about Buffalo suggests Dolphins fans can cross the Bills off next year’s threats. That the descruction from within will begin soon. On the Buffalo radio show Shredd & Ragan, the smart, first question was, “What did you think when your agent said Buffalo?”

“Um …” Owens said. (Translation: “My first thought was, ‘No way in hell!’ “)

“… What did I think when he said Buffalo?” (He’s still stalling as his mind searches for an inoffensive answer.)

“… At that point in time I was just going up there to have a meeting, and I thought that was just going to be the start of the process of trying to find me a team (blah …). From that standpoint, once I got there I was very excited with the coaching staff (blah, blah …), I met with the head coach and one thing kind of just happened after another. (blah, blah, blah…) “

Be afraid, Buffalo.

Be very afraid.
