UPDATED:

A small plane experiencing engine trouble was able to pull off a “miracle” landing — without injuries and minimal aircraft damage — on the beach at Singer Island Saturday evening, Riviera Beach Fire Rescue officials said.

The emergency landing hit just behind 5200 N. Ocean Shore Drive shortly after 7 p.m.

Jamie Barker was piloting the plane and Gina Mason of Stuart was his passenger on a round-trip flight from Lantana Airport. They had done a fly-by of the Jupiter Lighthouse after leaving Pahokee. They were heading back to the airport when they started experiencing engine trouble, Barker said.

“We done OK, I guess,” said Barker.

DaWayne Watson, public information officer for the Riviera Beach Fire Rescue, said that it was a miracle.

“It was a very skillful landing — to be over water and then end up on the beach,” he said.

The plane will be towed to Lantana Airport. The Federal Aviation Administration will be investigating,Watson said.
