Richard Arvin Grabill was born in Virginia, and at age 18 moved to Palm Beach, FL. He met his future wife at an early age at the Palm Beach Roller Rink. Carole, who taught Arvin how to skate and they became skating partners and competitive skaters. They turned their love for skating into a successful business after gathering enough money to buy Gold Coast Roller Rink in Ft. Lauderdale, FL. As a couple they lived in an apartment under the rink where they lived until the business was financially stable to buy a home in FT. Lauderdale, FL. They took something that they loved and made it into a successful business. Their love for skating was the foundation for other rinks they built and purchased under the Gold Coast Roller rink name. (Gold Coast of Ft. Lauderdale, FL; Gold Coast of Hollywood, FL; Gold Coast of West Palm Beach, FL; Sunrise Ice Skating Center, Sunrise, FL; Roller Skating Center of West Palm Beach, FL). As a couple they produced regional and national champions in the roller skating under RSROA (Now known as RSA). Also helped in producing high-level ice skaters in the regional, national and Olympics. Arvin lost the love of his life Carole and business partner due to a lengthy battle with liver cancer. The Grabill’s were members of the University of Miami Patrons for center of liver disease, Royal Dames of Cancer Research, Research Society of Ireland of Florida, Miami Dolphins booster club, Red Cross Angels, Coral Springs Philharmonic and Boca Raton Hospital. Arvin was a loyal Dolphins Fan and an amazing friend of Don Shula. Grabill and family went on trips with Don and his family and the Dolphins teams over the years. Arvin was an avid golfer on the Amateur/pro golf level. Arvin played in golf tournaments and won the tournaments he played in. Arvin received a prestigious award by the PGA Tour (PGA golfer of the year in December of 2022). Arvin Grabill, survived by his wife Georgiana Barbara Grabill, daughter Patricia Grabill DeGray and husband Stephen J. DeGray, Debbie Grabill, Grandson Tony Sinoyiannis and wife Nissa Sinoyiannis and great grandson Theo Sinoyiannis. Arvin Grabill died peacefully in his home in Boca Raton, FL.
