David S. Wyatt OBITUARY
David S. Wyatt OBITUARY
With great sorrow we regretfully announce the passing of beloved husband, father, brother, uncle and friend on Sunday, August 4th, 2024.
David was born on August 2, 1935 in East Aurora, NY. He developed an affinity for cars and hot rods which he carried with him when the Army sent him to Korea, where he worked in the motor pool.
Upon his return he started a family, began his career with the Bell System and attended the University of Buffalo. As a young lineman he helped string the first cables over Niagara Falls. He continued his career with the phone company in Florida where he oversaw the newly introduced computer center and the initiation of the 911 system. While managing locations throughout Florida, his responsibilities required air travel. On an early morning flight his plane was hijacked to Cuba. He and a fellow passenger became aware of the problem as they noticed the Sun was rising on the wrong side of the plane. Thankfully he was returned home later that afternoon after a brief militarily escorted shopping trip through the Havana airport! Dave continued his career with the phone company until 1987 when he retired. He and his wife Betty moved to Cedar Grove, WI where he started a handyman business that prospered, he eventually truly retired and returned to Florida. He was a devoted member of his church and served joyfully till he was no longer able.
David is survived by his wife Betty, sons Mark (Cherise) and Chris (Donna) and sister Robin Wyatt-Little along with several loved nieces and nephews.
A celebration of life will be held privately.
