Dr. Suzanne Stier OBITUARY
Suzanne Stier PhD. passed away peacefully on August 4, 2024. Beloved wife to the late Dr. Stanley Stier, devoted mother to Jeffrey Stier (Marian Stier), Shari Stier, Seth Stier (Jennifer Stier) and Ilisha Borek (Sam Borek). Dear sister of Harvey Besunder. Loving Grandmother of Aaron, Andrew, Ilan, Ali, Michael, Jared, Sarah, Ben, and Ari.
Suzanne was born in 1939 in Brooklyn, New York. She attended Skidmore and Brooklyn Colleges where she received a bachelor’s in science in education. She spent 2 years teaching fifth grade in NYC. Suzanne was a lifelong learner; She received her Master of Science in Counseling from Southern Connecticut State College and her Doctor of Philosophy in Social Psychology and Organizational Behavior from Union Graduate School. She spent 17 years in private practice helping individuals and family businesses. She consulted to synagogue boards and Rabbi’s on organizational matters.
She also continued her professional development at National Training Labs (NTL), Sloan School of Business at MIT, NYU, Yale, Gestalt Institute and Southern New England Telephone Company, O.D. Center.
Suzanne was involved with synagogues wherever she lived; Beth Israel in Derby, Connecticut, B’nai Jacob in Woodbridge, Connecticut, Shir Chadash Congregation in New Orleans, Beth El Temple in West Hartford, Connecticut and B’nai Torah Congregation in Boca Raton, Florida. She had her Bat Mitzvah as an adult in 2002.
Suzanne was a very spiritual person and participated in the Mussar Institute, and Institute for Jewish Spirituality. She worked with the Rabbinical Assembly and provided training for the Jewish Theological Seminary.
Suzanne and Stanley traveled to over twenty countries and resided in New Haven, Orange and Woodbridge, CT; New Orleans, LA; Cromwell, CT; Boynton Beach and Del Ray Beach, FL. In 2021 she moved to Harrington Park, NJ.
Suzanne’s memory will live on through her loving family and her legacy and life stories passed from generation to generation. She was a kind, caring and gentle soul who will be dearly missed by all who knew her.
