Myron L. Lenkin OBITUARY

On Friday August 2, 2024, Myron Leonard Lenkin, MD of Delray Beach, FL died peacefully surrounded by his family. Born October 14, 1935, in Washington, DC to Fannie & Samuel Lenkin, he shared his life with Lenore, his loving wife of 66 years. He is also survived by daughters, Robin Wexler (Gerald Goldstein), Abby Shumacher (Ronald), and Alexa Smith (Laurence), his adoring grandchildren, Steven & Samuel (Brianna) Wexler, Melissa, Eric (Danielle) & Courtney Shumacher, Madeleine, Brett & Lyndsey Smith, his brother Ronald (Wilma), and many nieces & nephews. He is predeceased by his sister, Rita Hawkins. Dr. Lenkin attended Roosevelt High in Washington DC and George Washington University. He earned a Doctor of Medicine from Wake Forest University School of Medicine followed by his Internal Medicine training at DC General and Georgetown University Medical Center. He served in the US Army Medical Corps at the Pentagon and subsequently practiced Internal Medicine for 40 years in Wheaton, MD. Dr. Lenkin was a beloved doctor to many, a lover of classical music & the arts, cars and technology. He voraciously followed world news and financial markets. He traveled extensively, was an accomplished photographer and played tennis and the piano beautifully. Most of all he was a great listener and a trusted advisor to all who knew him. He was a devoted partner to Lenore, the consummate “Girl Dad” to his daughters, and adored his grandchildren. Funeral services were held August 5, 2024 in Delray Beach, FL. Shiva will be observed August 5, 6 & 7 at the Lenkin residence at Harbour’s Edge, Delray Beach., FL. The family kindly requests donations be made in his memory to the United Jewish Appeal or the Alzheimer’s Association.
