Dr. Joseph Anthony Arena OBITUARY

Dr. Joseph A. Arena aka Joe, age 83, passed peacefully on July 25, 2024 with hIs family by his

side. He is survived by his incredible, loving wife Cheryl, his amazing daughter Andrea, and

grand-dog, Jellybean. Proud brother of Bettina Merkel, and brother-in law to Patty (Mike)

Milazzo and Cindy Holltman. An uncle to Jordan (Lindsay) Milazzo. He was devoted father to his late

son, Anthony Arena.

Joe was born in Yonkers, NY. He attended LeMoyne College, and went on to University of

Miami School of Medicine. After serving two years in the US Air Force, he returned to University of

Miami to complete his dermatology residency. He became a partner of the recently formed

Dermatology Associates. In his 48 years of practice he treated thousands of patients, some of

multiple generations.

Joe was never one who turned down a meal or a fine bottle of wine. He was fortunate to travel

the world. He was a die hard Cane and Dolphin

fan. Joe attended all the home games in the perfect season. As an intern in LA, he went to the

first Super Bowl, $25 a ticket!

Joe was witty and had a great sense of humor. He will be missed tremendously.

There will be a Mass at St. Anthony Catholic Church, August 9th at 10:30 am. Following the

service is a celebration at Lauderdale Yacht Club.
