Summer school students at John I. Leonard High School in Greenacres file into school through the recently installed metal detectors on June 29, 2023. The device is part of a new security measure implemented by the Palm Beach County School district. 
In an effort to increase security measures in light of gun violence across the United States, four public high schools in Palm Beach County received metal detectors, which are being tested on the current summer school students. The official pilot program will begin in the fall.
